Description: In 2026, the Precambrian domain boundaries were reviewed and updated following their reassessment in southwest Saskatchewan (Card et al., 2024) and following a collaborative reassessment of crustal domains along the full north–south extent of the provincial boundary between Saskatchewan and Manitoba (??Foley et al., 2026, in prep). Harmonization efforts resulted in several key revisions, including recognition of the Ennadai Domain in northwestern Manitoba, adjustments to the Mudjatik–Wollaston and La Ronge–Lynn Lake boundaries, extension of the Peter Lake Domain into Manitoba and unified treatment of Missi Assemblage metasedimentary rocks within the Kisseynew Domain. Sub Phanerozoic domains were likewise reconciled, leading to the establishment of a regionally consistent Carrot River Domain and the amalgamation of the Thompson, Duck Mountain and Oak Lake domains into a single Thompson Domain. In southwest Saskatchewan it resulted in retracing and renaming of the Medicine Hat block, the Vulcan low and the Hearne craton.Last updated April 2026.
