Description:

The distributed RURAL MUNICIPALITY feature layer, part of the ISC SaskGIS Cadastral dataset, contains a copy of the RURAL MUNICIPALITY feature layer taken from Information Services Corporation's (ISC) geospatial database. The data is comprised of geospatial locations and attributional information for all rural municipalities that reside within the province of Saskatchewan. The feature layer identifies each rural municipality by rm number, rm name, PPID (unique ID), and geospatial location. The rural municipalities have been derived from legal survey data and control survey points. This data is suitable for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Drawing Systems (CAD). The data is maintained and available for monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually or one-time distribution. The data that is delivered monthly undergoes rigorous quality control cycles and can be packaged as whole data and/or as change records (which indicate entities that have been added, deleted and modified since the previous months delivery). Description:

The residents of Saskatchewan need to know when and where they are allowed to burn in Saskatchewan – and municipalities/rural municipalities play an important role in making that happen. Municipalities, regional, and national parks have the authority to ban open burning in their areas of responsibility, while the SPSA can restrict open burning in provincial forests, parks and Crown land. Only in the most extreme situations would the SPSA consider restricting burning in all rural municipalities. The SPSA strongly encourages all municipalities to pass fire restriction bylaws that meet their local need. Local leaders are in the best position to determine when and where burning should be restricted within their municipality. Sample rural fire ban bylaws and a burn permit are available to rural municipalities on this page. All municipalities are strongly encouraged to obtain independent legal advice prior to adopting bylaws. https://www.saskpublicsafety.ca/communities/community-fire-bans
